machine mornings
I came to a realization, which might seem silly to a lot of people, on how reliant I am on machines to begin my morning.
Mornings are very important to me, as someone with ADHD I have a specific set of tasks I do at the beginning of every day. I grab my choice of carb (currently English muffins), fry up an egg, make a cup of coffee and sometimes grab a hasbrown. This routine deviates sometimes, small changes in my choice of carb, boiled instead of fried egg and sometimes forgoing it all for a bowl of oatmeal. As I was filling my kettle with water today, simultaneously juggling frying an egg, heating up my muffin and putting my hashbrown in the air fryer, I thought to myself "Wow, I literally need a machine for every single task that provides me with my breakfast".
I know this might not be a revelation to many people, and of course I know I have relied on them for majority of my life. However, this morning it really hit me how much I do need them to get my day started. A break in my usual morning routine can even ruin my day. I do things in a certain order and it helps ground me for what's to come, on certain days where I am forced to skip this routine I get grumpy.
To conclude my rambling; machines are great and I am thankful for them as they allow me to have a peaceful morning.
